Thank you for checking out the Bill.com website. As a fourth generation entrepreneur, I grew up learning from my dad and grandfather that business is personal in every way. The people you choose to work with (whether suppliers, customers or employees) are usually those you "click" with. While I am dedicated to the Web's efficiencies as a way to improve business processing, it does lack the personal interaction we all grew up with and we all rely on to make decisions. This letter is a modest attempt to provide you with the personal side of Bill.com and how it came to be.

This is the 5th startup I have been a part of and the second one that I have founded. The last company I started, PayCycle (now part of Intuit), is a fast-growing web payroll solution for small businesses with over 80,000 business customers. While managing the business, I felt the pain of keeping up with "everyday financial stuff such as accounts payables and cash management in a new way. I realized that today's technology could make my life as a business manager much easier. After hiring a great management team at PayCycle, I left the day-to-day operation to start Bill.com.
Bill.com's focus today is on the burdensome accounts payables process for business from 1 to 500 employees. Our solution makes it simple to manage and store your bills online, route your bills to others in your company for approval or questions, and to pay your bills with a mouse click. No more digging through piles looking for bills, no more lost invoices, no more wondering what the status of the bill is, and no more worrying about how to maximize your cash flow by paying at the last possible date. Additionally, if you choose our optional payment service, we provide you with greater financial security. The most common form of fraud is check fraud, either through stolen checks or imitation checks. With Bill.com, the checks are written on our account, not yours. If the fraudsters get a hold of it, it is not your problem. It is ours.
My goal, as the founder of this company, is to do right by our customers. As I mentioned earlier, I am a fourth generation entrepreneur. My great-grandfather owned a general store in western Canada. My grandfather started multiple businesses, as did my father. Cousins of mine started Lacerte Tax Software in the late 70's. All of the businesses since the early 60's have their foundation in financial data processing. I grew up listening to my dad and grandfather talk about business. I learned a lot at the dinner table. The focus was always on the customer. When I ventured into the workplace, I spent many years at Intuit, makers of Quicken and QuickBooks. Intuit was grounded with the same philosophy, and as a result, I learned even more about customer focus. I brought that dedication to the customer to PayCycle, and now, we are doing it again at Bill.com.
All of the Lacerte businesses have focused on leveraging technology. All of them have delivered great customer service. That is what we will do at Bill.com.
