Accountant Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Bill.com Accountant Program?

The Bill.com Accountant Program is a program run by Bill.com and CPA2Biz specifically designed for the needs of accounting and bookkeeping firms. As part of the program, you get many benefits such as a 10% discount on the Bill.com service for your clients, use of Bill.com for your firm with no user fees, an Accountant Console to help you manage their clients through the Bill.com platform, training, support and more. Visit CPA2Biz for more information.

What is your relationship with CPA2Biz?

CPA2Biz is a subsidiary of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). CPA2Biz is the AICPA's marketing and technology arm. Bill.com has developed a relationship with CPA2Biz to encourage accounting professionals to embrace the Bill.com service for both their firms and for their clients.

Can my clients and I share access?

Yes, you and your clients can share payables processing tasks. Bill.com lets you determine how to involve clients. Some accounting professionals prefer to do everything. Other accounting professionals want clients do the bookkeeping and payments while the accounting professional just reviews the process.

When you sign up a client, enter their contact information and your client will get an email detailing how to access the website and change their passwords.

Are there any independence issues involved with offering bookkeeping services to my clients?

A CPA's involvement with the client's accounting/bill paying workflow or the client's internal control system may impair the CPA's independence to perform Attest services. CPA2Biz and the AICPA have prepared an FAQ with additional information. For more details, click here.

Can we (or our client) enter their bank balances in Bill.com (or have a live feed to their banking account) so the cash flow calendar always show the client's bank balance?

Bank balance information is automatically updated from QuickBooks (Desktop or Hosted Desktop) or Intacct. If you do not use these accounting systems, you can manually update bank balances for the cashflow calendar. We chose this approach versus directly accessing your bank balance because it better reflects your cashflow position by including non-cleared transactions.

What does it cost for my clients?

With our special discount for accountant clients set up through the Bill.com Accountant Program, Bill.com costs just $19 per organization per month. Each client user is $3/month.

Payment transaction fees are 99¢ for each online check payment and 49¢ for each ePayment.

As a CPA, will I have free access to each of my client's accounts in Bill.com?

We have two options for an accountant to gain access to client accounts. First, you can be considered a user on each client account and be charged the appropriate monthly user fee.

Another option is available to accountants through our partnership with CPA2Biz (the marketing subsidiary of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants) and it provides unlimited accountant access to multiple client organizations for one low monthly fee. Please contact CPA2Biz for more information.

Can the CPA firm pay for their clients' usage of Bill.com?

Yes. The CPA firm can choose to have its clients Bill.com fees billed directly to the firm. You can setup the central billing feature using the CPA Console. Please contact CPA2Biz for more information.

Do you offer a risk-free trial for accountants?

We offer a 60 day money back guarantee for the Bill.com Accountant Program fees. During this 60 day period, we will bill you monthly on our normal billing schedule however if you cancel within 60 days of setup we will refund your Accountant Program and client user fees (fees for payment transactions are not refunded).

Do you offer a risk-free trial for clients?

After your firm's initial 60 day trial period, if you add a client and they are not satisfied for any reason you can cancel their account within 30 days of signing them up and we will refund the client organization fee and user fees (transaction fees incurred during the month are not refunded).

What happens if I cancel the service for myself or my client?

You can cancel the service at any time. Because we bill in arrears (you and your clients are billed for the past month's activities on your billing day each month) there may be prorated user and transaction fees to cover unpaid usage for the current billing month.

What does it mean that Bill.com has completed a SAS70 Type II Audit?

Bill.com has been audited for its internal process controls and has been deemed as SAS70 Type II compliant by a leading national CPA firm. The Statement on Auditing Standards (SAS) No. 70, Service Organizations, is an important standard developed by the American Institute of Certified Accountants (AICPA). An audit conducted in accordance with the SAS70 standard represents that a service organization's control objectives and activities related to information technology and other related processes have been verified by an independent accounting and audit firm.
