How to Make the Most of Money 20/20

Make the most of Money 20/20

Not so very long ago, eyes would glaze over when talking shop to my non-banking or payments family and friends. What I thought was pretty cool at work, did not always translate to the most fun conversations at gatherings.

A lot has changed with cloud, mobile, blockchain, AI, and apps galore—and suddenly I am getting asked the interesting questions! It’s an exciting time to be a part of the industry, and Money 20/20 is the epicenter where you can get your fix of all the most important and disruptive trends going on in our world.

With October quickly approaching, the Bank team is getting pumped for another incredible Money 20/20 extravaganza in Las Vegas with over 11,000 of our closest friends.  With all the activity, and the constant fear of missing out, newcomers and veterans alike will benefit from this field guide to Money 20/20.

Content overload

It is of course essential in our work to understand the latest insights from industry luminaries, as well as trends and shifts that will affect us day to day. There is a plethora of outstanding sessions, and you can’t possible attend them all—so be strategic. Start with the big name movers and shakers that are a must-see from the featured speaker list, such as Sir Richard Branson, and the bank-focused content that Money 20/20 has curated this year.

The one panel that you cannot miss is, The Uberization of Business Payments, with CEO, René Lacerte; Rob Mau, Partner from Oliver Wyman; and Payoneer CEO, Scott Galit. Hear from these leading B2B payments innovators on the market forces and emerging technologies that are shaping the new back office.

Money 20/20 has organized the sessions into themes from Payments and Platforms to Regulation and Regtech, to make it easy to find the topics that matter most to you. Go deep on one topic, or broaden your knowledge by selecting one or two sessions from each stream.

More than 530 domestic and international firms will be represented in the exhibit hall, and with a little planning, you can make this the most productive networking event of the year.  First, the easy stuff—review the floor plan of the exhibit hall, map out where the companies of interest are, and get in touch ahead of time.

For example, the bank team will be at Booth #1383 with compelling business client case studies in hand, ready to answer your questions, show demos, and share awesome giveaways and information on our product innovations and FI partnerships.

Booths can get busy, and so can schedules—be proactive and try to set up a time to talk. Want to make sure you get some one-on-one attention? You can always let our team know the best time for you, and send us a message on our Learn More page.

The conference app is a lifesaver. Don’t be shy, message folks early and keep up on the social feeds—your lifeline to the latest conference news.  Despite the most rigorous planning, sometimes the best contacts are serendipitous meetings over lunch or in line for cocktails. Take advantage of networking and meal breaks in the exhibit hall to chat with someone new.

And don’t forget to attend at least one of the receptions! Either the Poolside Reception on Sunday, or Industry Night at the Omnia club on Monday.

Staying in the know

Money 20/20 is where news is made, two of the not-to-be-missed highlights are the hackathon and payment race. Stay plugged in with your social network by sharing what you experience and sparking conversations online (#Money2020).

From checking out what other financial institutions are doing, to what emerging technologies you will need to keep tabs on, to major announcements, and finding the perfect fintech partnership, this conference has it all.

I hope to see you in Las Vegas, October 21-24!
