Frequently asked questions

What is local transfer?
Local Transfer is an alternative way for businesses to send international payments to their vendors & contractors. This alternative payment method delivers international payments through local payment networks in the recipient's country. Payments sent through local payment networks are faster than wire transfers because there are no intermediary banks involved. Here’s how it works: funds are sent via local payment networks to the country the payment is being delivered to—it's as if you're scheduling the payment locally.

That means:
  • Faster transfers—Your payments can arrive as soon as the very same day.
  • $0 wire fees—No transaction or receiving fee to you or your vendor and no intermediary bank fees deducted from your payment. Your vendors get exactly the amount of local currency you send, though exchange rates do apply.
What’s the difference between a local transfer and a wire transfer?
Local transfer
  • Local Transfer payments can be delivered up to 4 days faster than wire transfers via BILL (local currency only)
  • Vendors are not charged a wire receiving fee by their bank
  • Availability depends on the recipient’s country & payment limit threshold
Wire transfer
  • Wires transfers are delivered via the SWIFT network or through intermediary banks
  • Available to send in more currencies than local transfer (USD & local currency)
  • Availability depends on the recipient’s country
What payments are eligible for Local Transfer?
Local Transfer payments are eligible for any international payment that has the choice of a payment delivery method. If you do not see Local Transfer available for an international payment, it is likely that the currency of that payment is not supported at this time and the addition of other currencies will become more widely available. For financial institutions, all international payments are required to be processed via wire transfer.
